Talk to us: in-app feedback and honest errors

TrackShows 1.8.0 is about two things: making it easy to talk to us, and making the app honest when something goes wrong.

Contact & feedback

There is a new button on your Profile: Contact & feedback. Pick “Report a problem” or “Suggest an improvement”, type your message and send. It goes straight to the developer, not into a ticket queue, and replies come back to your account email. Some of the best recent changes came from people emailing us, so we made the route shorter.

When something breaks, the app now says so

A few people told us the app sometimes just stopped and had to be closed and reopened, with no clue why. That silence is the worst part, so we have replaced it. If something goes wrong, a small notice now appears telling you so, including the technical detail, with a Report this button that drops the whole thing into the feedback form so you can add what you were doing and send it in one tap.

Errors are also reported to us automatically, so recurring problems get found and fixed even when nobody presses anything. An automatic report contains the error text, the screen you were on and your app version, nothing else. And if a screen fails outright, you now get a proper “Try again” button instead of a frozen app.

Long seasons fixed

Marking a whole season as watched silently failed for seasons with more than 20 episodes. That is fixed, and any season length now works, so your soaps and classic network runs with 24-episode seasons tick off in one tap like everything else.

Everything above is live now in the web app, and the Android update is on its way through review. The full history is on the changelog.
